Privacy Policy

Schoolbag turns school notices into calendar events for your children. It is made by APEX VISION TECHNOLOGIES L.L.C, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("we"). This policy explains what the app stores, where it goes, and what you control.
The short version: your family's information stays on your phone. Nothing is uploaded unless you add your own AI key, and then only the text of a notice goes to Anthropic under your own account.
Everything stays on your device
All information you add, and everything the app works out from it, is stored only on your phone:
- Children's names, classes, colours and schools
- Notices you share into the app (text, photos, PDFs) and the events found in them
- Reminders, fee status and your preferences
Notices are read on your phone. Photos and PDFs are turned into text by on-device recognition, and dates and events are found by rules that run locally. No notice, photo, file, name or event is ever uploaded to us or to anyone else.
Schoolbag has no user accounts and no server that holds your data. Deleting the app, or using Settings › Delete all data, removes everything.
What can leave your phone, and only if you turn it on
- Smart reading with your own AI key. In Settings you can add your own Anthropic API key. From then on, when a notice is shared in, its text is sent from your phone directly to Anthropic (api.anthropic.com) under your own account so that Claude can find the dates in it. Before sending, phone numbers and email addresses are removed on your phone; your children's names, the original photo or file, and anything else in the app are never sent. We do not receive the text, and we never see your key: it is kept in your phone's secure keychain and can be removed in Settings at any time. Anthropic processes the text under its API terms and does not use it to train models. Without a key, notices are read entirely on your phone.
- Purchases (Schoolbag Pro). Subscriptions are handled by Google Play or the App Store. Our purchase provider (RevenueCat) receives a random app-installation identifier and your purchase status, so that Pro can be restored on a new phone. It does not receive your name or any family data.
- Phone calendar export (Pro). If you export an event, it is written to a calendar on your device. Schoolbag asks for calendar permission only at that moment. If that calendar syncs to a cloud account (for example Google Calendar), that sync is governed by that provider.
- Crash reports and usage counts. Some builds send crash stack traces and anonymous event counts (for example "a notice was shared", "extraction took 2 seconds") to help us fix bugs. These never include notice text, event titles, names, photos or contact details. Settings shows whether this is on in your build.
Permissions
- Notifications: to remind you before events. Reminders are scheduled locally.
- Calendar: only if you export events to your phone calendar.
- Files and photos: only what you explicitly share into Schoolbag through the share sheet.
- Internet: for purchases, crash reports where enabled, and smart reading if you added your own key. Without a key, reading notices does not use it.
Children
Schoolbag is for parents and carers. It stores the names of children you enter so that events can be filed under them. That information stays on your device as described above. The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
- Add or remove an AI key at any time in Settings › Smart reading.
- Export everything as a JSON file from Settings › Your data.
- Delete all data from Settings › Your data, or by uninstalling the app.
Changes
If a future version adds an online feature (for example syncing with the other parent), this page will be updated first and the feature will be off unless you turn it on. The date above shows the current version.
